ABOUT JELC
Journal of Ethnic Literature and Culture (JELC) (Print ISSN: 3078-283X; Online ISSN: 3104-5030) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Hong Kong Information Education Publishing Company Limited. JELC publishes two issues each year in both Chinese and English.
Scope and Topics
JELC centers on in-depth academic exploration of ethnic literary traditions, cultural connotations and cultural inheritance and development from an international and interdisciplinary perspective, covering all-dimensional, cross-regional and multi-disciplinary research topics concerning ethnic literature and diverse ethnic cultures worldwide. The journal mainly publishes high-quality original research achievements, including textual analysis and aesthetic interpretation of ethnic literary works, collation and research of ethnic literary documents and historical materials, theoretical research on ethnic literature and art, and studies on ethnic cultural inheritance, innovation and creative transformation.
It encompasses comprehensive researches on traditional and contemporary ethnic poems, novels, essays, folk literature and intangible cultural heritage literature, as well as in-depth discussions on the interactive relationship between ethnic literature and regional society, ethnic integration, cultural identity and spiritual civilization construction. The journal also accepts cross-border and comparative research studies, including horizontal comparative analyses of literary and cultural development among different ethnic groups at home and abroad, overseas dissemination and reception of Chinese ethnic literature and culture, cross-cultural communication and translation studies of ethnic literary works, and interdisciplinary research integrating literature, culture, sociology, anthropology, history and linguistics.
Open Access Policy
JELC is a fully open access journal that provides immediate and permanent free access to all published content for all users worldwide without requiring any article processing charges (APCs) or subscription fees. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, allowing unrestricted sharing, distribution, and reuse with proper attribution. Authors retain copyright of their work while granting the journal publishing rights. We support responsible scholarly sharing by permitting authors to deposit preprints in any repository without embargo and postprints immediately upon publication. This sustainable model maintains the highest standards of peer review and editorial quality while eliminating financial barriers to knowledge dissemination.
